Endoscopy and Colonoscopy in Bristol, TN
Welcome to Sapling Grove Endoscopy Center, where our medical team provides personalized, high-quality care in a comfortable setting. Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy are safe procedures that can play a critical role in protecting your health. Our goal is to make your experience as stress-free as possible and help you feel confident every step of the way.
Upper Endoscopy
An upper endoscopy uses a thin, flexible scope with a camera to examine your upper digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach and upper small intestine. Doctors may recommend this procedure for:
- Difficulty swallowing
- Persistent stomach pain
- Ulcers
- Suspected bleeding
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is another type of endoscopic procedure that examines the rectum and colon. It can detect and remove polyps, helping prevent colon cancer, and identify issues such as inflammation, ulcers and tumors.
Screening frequency depends on your personal risk and family history. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare can make a significant difference, and most patients find the procedure easier than expected.
The Sapling Grove Endoscopy Center Difference
During endoscopy, the digestive tract is gently inflated to allow for better visibility. While room air has traditionally been used, it can cause discomfort after the procedure. We use carbon dioxide (CO2), which is absorbed more quickly by the body.
This approach helps reduce bloating, nausea and discomfort after your procedure. CO2 is safe for both adults and pediatric patients, and research shows it is well tolerated, even for patients with certain pulmonary conditions.
